Retail Store Manager

What we are looking for:

Urban Remedy is currently seeking talented and experienced Store Managers to provide frontline leadership to all Store Crew and to drive the financial health of our stores. Our Store Managers establish and cultivate a culture that is aligned with our core values and promotes Urban Remedy’s mission and belief that Food is Healing. Store Managers at Urban Remedy influence the Store Crew by inspiring and demonstrating a strong work ethic, an intuitive sense of how to improve the customer experience and a passion for delivering results. What you will be doing:
  • Creating an employment experience that is in line with Urban Remedy’s core values by recruiting and training a team, providing an opportunity for professional development
  • Maximizing the financial performance of the store by creating a great work environment that allows your team to deliver exceptional and authentic customer interactions
  • Setting goals and expectations for the store crew, aligning performance and incentives, managing performance issues and holding the team accountable for results

What you'll need to succeed:
  • 2+ years experience managing a fast paced, premium branded, customer service-oriented business, preferably in food service or retail
  • A strong customer focus and service orientation
  • A business acumen and experience managing a store P&L

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Our crew will partner with the Store Manager to develop an in-store culture consistent with the Urban Remedy Foundational Principles (listed below). Our crew will embody the core principles necessary to ensure exceptional customer service, exemplary product knowledge, and store cleanliness consistent with company standards.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • Gaining product knowledge through in-store resources and Store Manager
  • Ensuring exceptional customer service to every customer, during all day parts
  • Assisting in the growth of the company by supporting local events and building brand awareness
  • Assisting in the implementation of new in-store products and procedures ensuring customer experience is consistent and legendary
  • Ensuring store cleanliness exceeds company expectations and achieves state guidelines for retail facilities
  • Effectively manage labor in the absence of the Store Manager, ensuring all state and local laws are followed
MUST BE WILLING TO:
  • Have flexibility in schedule to meet expectations of Store Manager and store needs
  • Ability to communicate effectively, and professionally at all times, including but not limited to, times of adversity and change
  • Ability to manage cash effectively to ensure minimal shrink
  • Willingness to learn inventory management to ensure refrigerators are stocked appropriately and purge is minimized
  • Willingness to adapt to changes in scheduling, company policies and procedures that are consistent with company growth and goals
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • 1-2 years of retail experience; POS experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills; proficient in English both spoken and written

Driver/Shipping Warehouse Team Member

Urban Remedy is recruiting a driver for our retail and wholesale program. The driver will work as part of a team to pack out and deliver fresh organic food and juice to local stores throughout the Bay Area. Candidates should have warehouse and packing experience, be a quick learner, team player, and possesses strong attention to detail. It is critical for the driver to be highly reliable, responsible, and resource driven. This is a fast paced job so the candidate must be able to multitask and work under pressure.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • Read and check accuracy of items picked for each order according to each packing list
  • Make deliveries in our refrigerated cold trucks on time and safely
  • Proper placement and care of meals when distributed to sites, including ensuring appropriate temperature levels for all food.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area
  • Delivery equipment maintenance
  • Work in fast paced environment
  • Additional related tasks as necessary
MUST BE WILLING TO:
  • Morning shifts 4 AM-12 PM. Sometimes may be a 2 AM or 3 AM start.
  • Safely maneuver and operate 16-foot box truck.
  • Stay organized and pay attention to detail
  • Communicate effectively
  • Physically perform requirements of job, including ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and safely operated wheeled carts and dollies.

Purchasing Manager

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

The right candidate must have strong quantitative skills, proficiency in Excel, extreme attention to detail, a positive and collaborative attitude, a track record of responsible administration, and a passion for fresh, sustainable food. Experience in a buying role, preferably with food, is required.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

In this position, you will be responsible for managing all purchasing of ingredients, packaging, supplies, service contractors, equipment and materials for the company. The scope is broad, ranging from sourcing new vendors, vendor negotiation, placing and adjusting orders, tracking inventory, planning future purchasing, preventing spoilage, and monitoring product costs and quality. We are a growing business with a lot of moving parts and the right candidate is comfortable with an all hands on deck environment. The role reports directly to the VP of Operations. This is an outstanding opportunity for anyone passionate about food and committed to responsible sourcing.

MUST BE WILLING TO:
  • Develop and implement purchasing and contract management instructions, policies, and procedures
  • Represent UR in negotiating contracts and formulating policies with suppliers; resolve claims and grievances
  • Work with R&D and production teams to identify and source hard-to- find products
  • Prepare and process requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment
  • Conduct inventory counts; develop and communicate inventory management policies and track inventories using manual and computerized systems
  • Manage receiving; ensure incoming product meets or exceeds the recipe’s quality specifications
  • Oversee Lot Tracking procedures
  • Lead contingency planning when availability issues are a possibility
  • Analyze and maintain recipe food costs to stay within budget; aggressively identify and pursue cost savings against targets; optimize freight and shipping
  • Manage assistant purchasing manager
  • Attend weekly company meetings
  • Perform other related duties as needed
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
  • ‬Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
  • ‬A knack for negotiation and networking
  • ‬Working experience of vendor management software; Quickbooks experience preferred
  • ‬Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures
  • ‬Solid judgment along with decision-making skills
  • ‬Strong leadership capabilities
