Celebrate Self Care

By UrbanRemedy

The holiday season is here, along with the inherent stress of the season. We asked Susan Griffin-Black, co-founder and co-CEO of EO Products, for some simple ways that she incorporates self care and uses aromatherapy to help ease holiday madness. Here’s Susan’s advice:

First things first, sleep is underrated (right up there with kindness – especially to yourself). Get enough sleep and rest well. With the nights getting longer it’s easy to lose track of time, so I like to set a bedtime and try to keep to it. I have found that a good night’s sleep is the best remedy. To help me drift off into dreamland, I love to use Lavender essential oil in a simple pillow spray.

Lavender Pillow Spray

Ingredients

8oz Spray Bottle (glass is best for essential oils)

7oz Distilled Water

30 drops Lavender Essential Oil

Preparation

Mix all ingredients in the spray bottle by shaking. Spritz your pillows before bedtime. Enjoy sweet dreams.

My main advice, after getting a good night’s sleep, is to ditch the word ‘should’. The holidays are a perfect time to take a look at the things you do in the name of obligation. Find the balance between generosity, inclusiveness, and your own sanity. Give yourself permission to skip traditions if they’re causing more stress than joy.

For all of you who forego evergreen in your home, here’s a little essential oil diffusion blend that will make your house smell like fresh evergreen with a hint of candy cane and cookies…and without any of the mess!

Smells Like the Holidays Aromatherapy Blend

Lavender

Ingredients

6 drops everyone™ Fresh Essential Oil Blend

1 drop everyone™ Warm Essential Oil Blend

2 drops everyone™ Peppermint Essential Oil

Preparation

Drop essential oils into your aromatherapy diffuser or just put them on a cotton ball and enjoy the scent of the holidays all around you.
