Preparing for your Cleanse

Do you regularly eat fast foods like pizza, hamburgers, fries, nachos, cake, cookies, donuts and such? Do you regularly drink alcohol? Do you smoke or take drugs? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you may want to take a good 5-7 days before you start your juice cleanse to prepare your body.

Coming off your Urban Remedy Cleanse
You've just given you body a much-deserved break. So take some time to bask in the glow! It's best to gradually ease yourself back into eating again to avoid shocking your system. Foods that you can eat freely on the first three days after your cleanse are listed below. On the fourth day you can begin adding foods that are part of your normal diet, but go slow and pay attention to how you feel after eating them. Even though you've successfully completed your cleanse, try incorporating more whole foods into your everyday diet and leave processed foods behind. Your body will thank you.
The day after you finish your cleanse (two days if you can) eat:
- Fruits (low glycemic: berries, grapefruit, apples, pears),
- Green veggies(kale, chard, broccoli, asparagus, green beans, brussel sprouts, cabbage), sprouts, red peppers, purple cabbage,
- Acai, wheatgrass, spirulina, blue-green algae(E3 Live),
- 8 glasses of filtered water, herbal tea, and kefir drinks.
- Fresh juices if you have a juicer or try our maintenence program
On the second or third day incorporate
- Soaked nuts and seeds in small quantities.
- Non-gluten grains: quinona, millet, buckwheat, brown rice, amaranth
- Olive oil, coconut oil, hemp oil, sesame oil, flax seed oil (unheated), macadamia nut oil, grapeseed oil(high heat ok).
- All green juices/vegetable juices, diluted fruit juices.
- Superfoods: acai, cacao, gogi berries, spirulina, blueberries, maca, wheatgrass, blue-green algae(E3 Live), hemp. Superfoods all contain extraordinarily-rich antioxidant content.
On the fourth day you can incorporate foods like:
- Organic meats if you eat meat
- Wild salmon
- Whole grains if you have no intolerance to gluten
Think about what you are going to eat and ask yourself will these foods cleanse my body or clog my body?
Fresh, organic vegetables are excellent detoxifiers. Most fruits are filled with water which helps to cleanse and hydrate the body. Think salads, lightly steamed vegetables, juices etc.
Try and completely remove processed foods from your diet. i.e. packaged foods like crackers, cookies, chips, muffins, fast food, canned foods, white sugar & white flour containing foods/products, trans-fats, canola oil, lard.
Foods to remove from diet or eat only in small quantities: dairy, meat, alcohol, grains especially gluten containing grains (wheat, spelt, barley, bulgar, rye, semolina). All grains will slow your cleansing process, so the more you eat, the slower you'll cleanse. This is because they don’t have the enzymes of the raw fruits and veggies and they take longer for you body to digest.
One of the worst things we can do in terms of clogging the body is overeating. Overeating even if you are eating healthy foods put a huge strain on the digestive process and create a large burden on the whole GI tract. Please try and eat smaller meals, you will feel lighter and have much more energy I promise. The less one eats, the body responds by turning on the anti-aging (anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic) genes, as long as one is eating live foods.
